This means that the perfect weather for vine is Mediterranean weather while under Atlantic weather it\u2019s a plant out of the optimum developement conditions.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Weather facts influence:<\/h2><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Temperature<\/strong><\/h3><p>The optimum temperatura for photosynthesis is around 28\u00baC. Between 25\u00baC to 30\u00baC the plants are really efficient producing sugars from photosynthesis metabolism. This temperature range is typical from Mediterranean weather while Atlantic temperature are lower. Sugars during fermentation are transformed into alcohol so it\u2019s typical higher alcohol in Mediterranean wines tan Atlantic ones. Another aspect related is the slower maturation under Atlantic weather conditions. This means later harvests, Autum harvest. Vitis Vinifera is a Summer maturation plant. Harvest should be at the end of Summer or early Autum. Today harvest in Mediterranean areas ussually is made around August while traditionally it was in September\/October. This is well know by Mediterranean viticultors that are actually looking for higher lands to plant vineyards in fresher places.<\/p><p>Other effect related with temperature is the acids reduction, specialy Malic acid that is directly proportional consumed with higher temperatures. Atlantic wines keep more acidity and freshness tan Mediterranean ones.<\/p><p> With the balance of sugars and acids is defined the \u201cindustrial ripeness index\u201d. The other two index that define maturation are \u201caromatic ripeness index\u201d (showing aromatic compounds o aromatic precursor compounds ripeness) and \u201cphenolic ripeness index\u201d (indicating tannins and colour ripeness). This three maturation index define the optimum harvest momento for each grape variety and if al lof them appear at teh same moment this is the definition of perfect adpatation for a grape variety to a weather or in a more general way\u2026 to a terroir. Today, it\u2019s easier to find this situation of coincidence in the three different maturation index in Atlantic weather while in Mediterranean weather is more anticipated the industrial maturity thanks to the temperature influence in the sugars production.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunlight<\/h3><p>Sunlight is another of the imputs might limitate photosynthesis, in Atlantic weather conditions as the temperatures are lower it becomes in a really important aspect to care about. In Atlantic weather, in general, more sunlight\u2026 better!<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Water status (rain or irrigation)<\/h3><p>It isn\u2019t a limitation in Atlantic weathers in terms of water status for the plant hydratation and the most important influence is that the rain and in general, humidity, helps the funghi diseases development. In Atlantic viticulture conditions is really important to pay atention to the funghi diseases control, the risk is much bigger tan in Mediterranean conditions.<\/p><p>It isn\u2019t a discusi\u00f3n of better or worse wines, just different\u2026 but IMHO, today Atlantic areas, or higher altitude lands, represent an \u201cunconfortable zone\u201d for Vitis Vinifera that is really interesting to get more exciting wines, different ones, with higher identity\u2026 while in the \u201cconfort zone\u201d wines tend to be more predictables and boring.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vines (Vitis Vinifera) are Mediterranean plants. Esto significa que el clima perfecto para la vid es el clima Mediterr\u00e1neo, mientras que bajo el clima Atl\u00e1ntico es una planta fuera de las condiciones \u00f3ptimas de desarrollo.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading -->\n<h2> Influencia del clima:<\/h2>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} -->\n<h3> Temperatura<\/h3>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p> La temperatura \u00f3ptima para la fotos\u00edntesis es de alrededor de 28\u00baC. Entre 25\u00baC y 30\u00baC las plantas son realmente eficientes produciendo az\u00facares a partir del metabolismo de la fotos\u00edntesis. Este rango de temperatura es t\u00edpico del clima Mediterr\u00e1neo, mientras que la temperatura del clima Atl\u00e1ntico es m\u00e1s baja. Los az\u00facares durante la fermentaci\u00f3n se transforman en alcohol, por lo que t\u00edpicamente el contenido en alcohol es m\u00e1s alto en los vinos mediterr\u00e1neos que en los del Atl\u00e1ntico. Otro aspecto relacionado es la maduraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s lenta bajo las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas del Atl\u00e1ntico. Esto significa vendimias m\u00e1s tard\u00edas, vendimias de oto\u00f1o. La Vitis Vinifera es una planta de maduraci\u00f3n estival. La cosecha debe ser al final del verano o inicio del oto\u00f1o. Hoy en d\u00eda, la cosecha en las \u00e1reas mediterr\u00e1neas generalmente se realiza alrededor de agosto, mientras que tradicionalmente se realiz\u00f3 en septiembre \/ octubre. Esto es bien conocido por los viticultores mediterr\u00e1neos que est\u00e1n buscando tierras m\u00e1s altas para plantar vi\u00f1edos en lugares m\u00e1s frescos.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p> Otro efecto relacionado con la temperatura es la reducci\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos, especialmente el \u00e1cido m\u00e1lico que es directamente proporcional su consumo con temperaturas m\u00e1s altas. Los vinos del Atl\u00e1ntico mantienen m\u00e1s acidez y frescura que los mediterr\u00e1neos.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Con el balance de az\u00facares y \u00e1cidos se define el \u201c\u00edndice de madurez industrial\u201d. Los otros dos \u00edndices que definen la maduraci\u00f3n son el \"\u00edndice de madurez arom\u00e1tica\" (que muestra compuestos arom\u00e1ticos o la madurez de los compuestos precursores arom\u00e1ticos) y el \"\u00edndice de madurez fen\u00f3lica\" (que indica los taninos y la maduraci\u00f3n del color). <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Estos tres \u00edndices de maduraci\u00f3n definen el momento \u00f3ptimo de cosecha para cada variedad de uva y si aparecen en el mismo momento, esta es la definici\u00f3n de una adaptaci\u00f3n perfecta de una variedad de uva a un clima o de una manera m\u00e1s general \u2026 a un terroir. Hoy en d\u00eda, es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil encontrar esta situaci\u00f3n de coincidencia en los tres diferentes \u00edndices de maduraci\u00f3n en el clima atl\u00e1ntico, mientras que en el clima mediterr\u00e1neo se anticipa m\u00e1s la madurez industrial gracias a la influencia de la temperatura en la producci\u00f3n de az\u00facares.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} -->\n<h3> Insolaci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>La luz solar es otro de los factores que pueden limitar la fotos\u00edntesis y que en las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas del Atl\u00e1ntico, dado que las temperaturas son m\u00e1s bajas, se convierte en un aspecto realmente importante. En el clima atl\u00e1ntico, en general, m\u00e1s insolaci\u00f3n \u2026 mejor!<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} -->\n<h3> Agua<\/h3>\n<!-- \/wp:heading -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p> No es una limitaci\u00f3n habitual en la viticultura Atl\u00e1ntica el r\u00e9gimen h\u00eddrico en cuanto a la hidrataci\u00f3n de la planta y la influencia m\u00e1s importante es que la lluvia y en general, la humedad, ayudan al desarrollo de las enfermedades causadas po hongos.
