WHO ARE WE?
We are a small family winery, owned and managed by Carlos Rodriguez and his wife Emilia Gomez.
Carlos is a native of Navarra, and a trained agronomist and talented winemaker. Since 2001 he has been consulting for many wineries within Spain and throughout Europe, helping them to develop their plantings, grape growing, and winemaking.
Emilio Gomez is from Galicia, and is also an experienced agronomist and winemaker, and since 2004 has worked as a specialized Master of quality, environment, and labor risk prevention at various wineries throughout Spain, mainly in Rioja.

We met studying winemaking in Rioja, where we had come from our home regions, but we never lost touch with our respective birthplaces, as our families are still living in both Navarra and Galicia. Emilia’s family comes from the highest lands of Ribera Sacra, and we are so in love with the region that we were married in the most famous monastery there, Santo Estevo. After more than 15 years in the wine business, we decided to branch out on our own, and purchased a small winery and 4,000 square meters of vineyards in Ribera Sacra. We produce our own grapes, love taking care of the vineyards, and are passionate about making our very own wine.
HOW WAS ABA SOLLEIRA BORN?
With passion and respect. We aren’t a family rich in wealth, and we didn’t inherit a property nor did we reach out to investors to purchase the most beautiful winery. We used all of our life savings to make our dream come true, which was to one day have our own winery. This is an adventure we have dreamed of millions of times over, and we are passionate to create the most beautiful wine we can possibly make. We honor the history of this sacred land, and its history of winemaking going back to Romans, and even before. Our promise is to respect this land, and the natural environment, to preserve a healthy planet for future generations.
